Cockroaches thrive in warm environments, which is why they are commonly found in kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms, and airing cupboards. They are nocturnal, hiding during the day in cracks and crevices, behind tiles, inside cupboards, and even in electrical equipment like fridges, junction boxes, and light fittings. Seeing cockroaches during the day often indicates a serious infestation.

Why treat cockroaches quickly?

Cockroaches pose a significant health hazard, carrying over 40 types of bacteria, including typhoid fever, cholera, dysentery, E. coli, and salmonella. If left untreated, their population can grow rapidly, as a female cockroach can lay up to 120-240 eggs every two months, with a short development period from hatching to maturity. Cockroaches are agile, able to move quickly on both smooth and rough surfaces, including vertical and upside-down movement.

Preparation before PEST-SHIELD cockroach treatment:

• Ensure kitchen worktops, floors, and cabinets are clean and free of crumbs and grease.
• Thoroughly clean and degrease areas under and around cookers, fridges, and other kitchen appliances.
• Empty and clean inside and outside of cupboards and drawers.
• Vacuum carpets and wash floors.
• Contact neighbours or any connected buildings to check if they also have a cockroach problem.
• Remove any food left out, including pet food.
• Cover all cutlery, food, clothes, towels, and toothbrushes.

Aftercare tips:

• If gel bait touches your skin, wash it off immediately.
• Keep food covered if it is left out.
• Maintain cleanliness under kitchen equipment and appliances.
• Expect to see dead cockroaches for a few weeks after treatment. Dispose of them in an outside bin.
• Monitor for any new signs of cockroaches and keep the area clean to avoid further infestations.

How PEST SHIELD’s treatment works:

Our technician will apply a gel bait treatment. In cases of heavy infestations or if the problem spreads from neighboring properties, more than one treatment may be necessary. For communal or multi-occupancy buildings, monthly baiting may be required until the cockroaches are eradicated.

Dead cockroaches will continue to appear for a few weeks after each treatment. On the second visit, our technician will provide cockroach monitoring traps with pheromone bait to check if any cockroaches remain or if a new infestation has occurred. These traps are safe and used only for monitoring.
