Proper preparation is key to effective flea treatment. Follow these steps to ensure the best results:

  1. Vacuum Thoroughly
    • Vacuum the entire office floor, paying special attention to carpet edges and any upholstered furniture, including under cushions where debris may have collected.
    • Remove the vacuum bag immediately and place it in an outdoor bin.
  2. Professional Treatment
    • PEST SHIELD will treat the entire floor and furniture with a biodegradable residual insecticide. These treatments are almost odourless, non-staining, and non-corrosive. While safe for mammals, they are highly effective against crawling and flying pests.
  3. Post-Treatment Guidelines
    • Avoid vacuuming the treated area for at least two weeks.
    • After the first vacuuming, remove the vacuum bag and dispose of it in an outdoor bin.
    • Continue vacuuming daily, preferably twice a day, to assist in controlling the infestation.

What to Expect After Treatment

  • Flea infestations may appear to worsen temporarily as fleas emerge from their hiding places.
  • It can take 7–14 days for fleas to die out completely, and in some cases, fleas may persist for up to 21 days.
  • To expedite eradication, reduce humidity and keep the area warm by opening windows or using a dehumidifier.

Long-Term Prevention
Flea problems often recur if employees with pets do not treat their homes and animals regularly. For this reason, flea treatments in office environments cannot be fully guaranteed.
